Trump Warns Iran to “Get Smart Soon”
Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “Iran can’t get their act together. They don’t know how to sign a nonnuclear deal. They better get smart soon,” emphasizing his frustration with what he portrayed as Iran’s inability to finalize a resolution.
The message was accompanied by a striking visual depicting the US leader dressed in a black suit and sunglasses, holding a firearm, set against a backdrop of explosions across an Iranian landscape—an image that underscored the intensity of his tone.
Tensions between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other escalated after a coordinated military campaign launched on Feb. 28. In retaliation, Tehran carried out attacks targeting what it called US interests throughout the region, including multiple locations in Gulf nations.
Efforts to halt the conflict led to a ceasefire declared on April 8, brokered with the assistance of Pakistan. Subsequent negotiations held in Islamabad on April 11–12, however, concluded without any formal agreement.
Trump later indicated that the ceasefire extension came at Pakistan’s urging, as discussions awaited a concrete proposal from Tehran. Earlier in the week, he suggested he was unlikely to endorse Iran’s most recent plan, which included reopening the Strait of Hormuz while postponing key issues surrounding its nuclear program for future talks.
